AMERICAN HARDCORE
A documentary by Paul Rachman, USA, 2006, 100´.
Original version with Portuguese subtitles.
The history of North-American punk rock between 1980 and 1986. Practically ignored, the hardcore punk scenario in the beginning of the 80s anticipated the ensuing music and culture. Without pioneers such as Black Flag, Bad Brains and Minor Threat, would there be Nirvana, Beastie Boys or Red Hot Chili Peppers? Hardcore was more than music; it was a social movement created by Reagan era marginalized youths. They were a tribe in which some sought a better world while others were angry and wanted to send everything to hell.
