Old Perpétua, sensing death’s presence, decides to prepare Zeca, her dear grandchild, for the approaching separation; she tells him the story of a rich and powerful king and a queen that have lost their only child, and wish to bring him back to life. While Perpétua tells the story, Damião and Josefa work to support the family and to prepare the wedding of their daughter Fátima. At the end, Perpétua’s story and the destiny of that family intertwine.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR
 Petrus Cariry was born in Fortaleza, in 1977. He has directed many short films, including Ordem dos Penitentes (2002), A velha e o mar (2005), and Dos restos e das Solidões (2006). This is his first feature film, which won the Best Film Award in the International Cinema Festival Viña del Mar (2007) and the Povos do Sul Festival (Venezuela); it was shown in many other national and international festivals.
