AFTERNOON
(Nachmittag)
A film by Angela Schanelec, 2007, 97 min.
Original version with Portuguese subtitles.
A free and personal adaptation transposed to the here and now of the play The Seagull, by Anton Tchekhov. Irene, a theater actress, goes to her home by a lake near Berlin, where her older brother and her son Konstantin live. Summer, sun, the lake – apparently an idyllic scenario; but the characters are hidden within themselves. An ambience of weariness, sadness and lost love paira over daily scenes.
