Every year, Françoise goes from Paris to Berlin, desperately seeking her daughter who was kidnapped in 1989 and never found. Françoise ends up meeting a young girl called Nina who works as a janitor in a park. Nina roams around town with her friend Toni. Together they live day after day, stealing whatever they can here and there. The paths of these three women cross in Berlin; a film about loneliness, loss and desire.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR
Christian Petzold was born in Hilden, in 1960; he moved to Berlin in 1981. He studied German language and literature. In 1988-94 he studied at the dffb, Berlin; during this time he was also an assistant of Harun Farocki and Hartmut Bitomsky. He has made nine feature films, among them Jerichow (2008), Yella (2007), Gespenster (2005), Wolfsburg (2003) and Die innere Sicherheit (2000).
