Mixing realism and fantasy, this film narrates the daily routine of a decadent snack bar in a New York suburb that is a meeting point for immigrants. Staff and customers, such as Jorge, a shy dishwasher from Ecuador and Amy, a Chinese waitress, all share the same anguish of being foreign in an America made of paranoia and terrorism. A huge poster in the kitchen teaches how to save a victim of asphyxia.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR
 Steve Barron was born in 1956, in Ireland, and is known for having directed clips, mostly in the 80s, for the Human League, Bryan Adams, the Culture Club, a-ha, Michael Jackson, and others. He also directed the films Coneheads (1993), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990), and Electric Dreams (1984), among others.
