A couple of ex-militants of a terrorist movement live a clandestine life with their teenage daughter. They try to build a nice identity in some place in Portugal, but a single misstep exposes their farce. A new flight takes them back to Germany. Meanwhile the daughter falls in love. Her parents rob a bank but are arrested during the escape. A political film that is at the same time the story of a teenager growing to be an adult.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR
Christian Petzold was born in Hilden, in 1960; he moved to Berlin in 1981. He studied German language and literature. In 1988-94 he studied at the dffb, Berlin; during this time he was also an assistant of Harun Farocki and Hartmut Bitomsky. He received the Deutschen Filmpreis in Gold for this film. He has made nine feature films, among them Jerichow (2008), Yella (2007), Gespenster (2005), Wolfsburg (2003) and Die innere Sicherheit (2000).
