HARAT

Leaving Paris, moviemaker Sepideh Farsi and her 8-year-old daughter travel to Iran to meet the grandfather and from there to go to Afghanistan. They have dreamt much about but never visited this country since the grandfather left to establish himself in Teheran. Traveling by air, train or land, they find sceneries, villages, voices and faces. Farsi films her daughter and her father, making a diary-film as a family album that unfolds for the spectator.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR
Sepideh Farsi was born in Teheran, Iran, in 1965. After studying mathematics and many years of photography, she started making short films and documentaries in partnership with Homi D. Sethna. She is now preparing her next work, The House Under the Water, which will be filmed in Iran in late 2008. Harat has participated, among others, in the Locarno Festival (2007), and received the Best Documentary Award in the Festival dei Popoli (2007).
