The question MC Chi asks is whether there is a contradiction between African culture values and the hip hop culture. Dj Sistamatic is challenged by the distorted picture that the media makes of her and the pressure to adapt to the image that men have of women. Smirk, a well-known graffiti artist, prepares herself to work with hip hop. The documentary reveals the efforts and victories of three of the main hip hop artists in South Africa.

ABOUT THE DIRECTORS
Vusi Magubane grew in the town of Umlazi, near Durban, and moved to Johannesburg in the 90s. Films include God is African and work in independent productions. Vusi Magubane is currently making a documentary about the largest hip hop festival in South Africa, the Fire on the Mountain.
Erin Offer was born in Canada, having written, directed and acted in dance and the theater. Erin Offer graduated in political science, then went to South Africa to work with grassroots communities. In 2006, Erin Offer created and organized the Imbokodo, an international women’s hip hop festival in Johannesburg.
